Vietnam's SBTC Esports defeated all-Pinoy squad Team Secret, 4-1, in the Grand Finals of Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 on October 3 (Sunday).
Team Secret started strong in Game 1 of the grand finals, as a crucial Baron Nashor takedown in 19 minute-mark helped the squad push down the lanes. Caster "Chewy" Dela Cruz, using Vayne, went berserk near the end of the match with a quadra kill before destroying SBTC's Nexus. Team Secret finished the game in nearly 25 minutes, recording a 1-0 score in the series.
SBTC Esports dominated Game 2 with 3 dragons takedown and 20k gold advantage. The team scored 14 kills, while Team Secret only got 1 kill. Vietnam squad finished the game at the 16-minute mark, making the series tied 1-1.
Continuing their momentum, SBTC outplayed Team Secret in a grueling 19-minute match in Game 3 to take a commanding 2-1 streak in the series.
SBTC ignited Game 4 aggressively, as they aced Team Secret before crushing their Nexus, ending the match in the 13-minute mark, and scoring 3-1 in the series.
Fuelling objective-based gameplay, SBTC went all-in on Game 5 by taking down Herald in the 8-minute mark and the Baron Nashor in the 12-minute mark, giving them an advantage on pushing lanes. The squad ultimately ended the game in the 14-minute mark, with a 4-1 record in the best-of-7 series, thus, securing the championship title.
With SBTC's victory, they will earn a spot in the Wild Rift Horizon Cup, LoL Wild Rift's biggest tournament. They also took home USD 30,000 from the USD 200,000 total prize pool.
Meanwhile, Team Secret placing second also gave them a spot in the Horizon Cup. The all-Filipino Wild Rift team bagged USD 20,000.
